Community Gathering and East Asian Film Series - Days of Being Wild (Wong Kar-Wai, 1990)

Join the East Asia Center as we continue our community gathering and Leslie Cheung film retrospective series, Thursday, March 16, with food and socializing starting at 5:30 p.m. in New Cabell Hall 236. The film showtime will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The second film showing in our series is Days of Being Wild (阿飛正傳) directed by Wong Kar-Wai. One of the pivotal figures of Hong Kong cinema, Wong ranked third on Sight & Sound's 2002 poll of the greatest filmmakers of the previous 25 years. Days of Being Wild in particular ranked number three on the Hong Kong Film Awards Association's 2005 list of The Best 100 Chinese Motion Pictures. Starring some of the most prominent actresses and actors of Hong Kong, including Leslie Cheung, Andy Lau, Maggie Cheung, Carina Lau, and Tony Leung, Days of Being Wild also marked the first collaboration between Wong and cinematographer Christopher Doyle. The film forms the first chapter of an informal trilogy, followed by In the Mood for Love (2000) and 2046 (2004).
