Ellen Bayard Weedon Travel Grant for Studies in East Asia
APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 15TH (FALL) AND MARCH 1 (SPRING)
Each year the East Asia Center Grants Committee awards money to lessen the cost of travel to East Asian countries by University faculty members and students. These funds may be used to cover part or all of the cost of airfare between Charlottesville and an East Asian country. Travel within an East Asian country will not be covered by a Weedon travel grant.
The Nelson Scholars Program for Southeast Asian Studies
APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 15TH (FALL) AND MARCH 1 (SPRING)
Each year the Southeast Asia Programming and Grants Committee allocates money to be used to reduce the cost of travel to Southeast Asian countries by University students, for study, and faculty members, for research. These funds may be used to cover part or all of the cost of airfare between Charlottesville and a Southeast Asian country, as well as program fees, reasonable accommodations, and research-related transportation within Southeast Asia.
Faculty Development Grants
APPLICATION DEADLINES: OCTOBER 15TH (FALL) AND MARCH 1ST (SPRING)
“Faculty Development Grants," designed to provide supplemental funds of up to $500 per application to help cover the costs associated with participating in East Asia-related workshops and conferences, both in the U.S. and abroad, by presenting or commenting on papers, research-related activities such as materials acquisition, transcription, and translation, and costs associated with the editing and publication of manuscripts, are made available by The East Asia Center to all East Asia-related faculty holding long-term paid appointments.
(For large publication projects please apply for a publication grant using the same form; a publication grant can range from $1,000-$2,000, depending on the needs. For workshop and conference funding requests, ranging between $1,000-$5,000, please write to the Director and the Grants Committee at any time.)
The Fudan University Fellows Program and East China Normal University ECNU-UVA Visiting Scholar Program
APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 17TH (FU FELLOWS PROGRAM), ROLLING ADMISSIONS (ECNU-UVA VISITING SHOLAR PROGRAM)
The Fudan University Fellows Program and East China Normal University ECNU-UVA Visiting Scholar Program provide funding (covering airfare, accommodation and stipend) to faculty and graduate students to undertake research at those universities in Shanghai.
