The UVA Institute of the Humanities and Global Cultures, East Asia Center and Department of Politics will be hosting a talk by Levi McLaughlin, Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at North Carolina State University. Author of Soka Gakkai’s Human Revolution: The Rise of a Mimetic Nation in Modern Japan he will be discussing "Buddhist Personhood Between Gendered Hierarchies: How Transgender Members of Soka Gakkai in Japan Cultivate Subjectivities."

The event is free and open to the public, and will be held Friday, February 9, from 3:15 - 4:30 p.m. in Wilson 142.
