About the book:

The six authors of Thomas Jefferson: Presidential Architect are all alumni or faculty of the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, founded by Thomas Jefferson. In the seven chapters of the book, they present a collection of rich and multifarious themes about architect Thomas Jefferson, including his architectural education and thoughts, his vision of the capital planning of Washington DC, the academical neverland he conceived—University of Virginia, Monticello built to his desired ways of living, and the interactions between his work and the architecture in modern China. This book offers the first comprehensive examination of Jefferson’s architect career to a Chinese-speaking audience. Through a scrutiny of his architectural works, it highlights the extraordinary ideals and aspirations they embody. The book also includes valuable texts and drawings, many of which are published in China for the first time.
