The Central Asian Student Association will be hosting an evening event "Who are the Uyghurs?" to examine the historical background of the current events in Xinjiang, focusing specifically on the East Turkestan independence movement of the 20th century and how it relates to the current policies that China is conducting in the region. Arfat Erkin, a class of 2023 UVA alumnus and member of The Tarim Network, will be speaking at the event, which will be held Saturday, March 30, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in Ern Commons.
