The UVA East Asia Center and Department of Politics are excited to be hosting a talk with Dan Smith, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. A core substantive focus of his research is political representation in democracies, especially how institutions such as electoral systems affect voting behavior and the demographic backgrounds and behavior of political elites. He will be discussing "Winning Elections with Unpopular Policies: Valence Advantage and Single-Party Dominance in Japan."
The event is free and open to the public, and will be held Friday, February 16, from 3:15 - 4:30 p.m. in Monroe 130.
